The new year brought along with it a blessed addition to our family,
our two new Maltese puppies, Chloe and Zoe! They have been an
absolute joy to have in our home and we are very much enjoying having a
DOUBLE dose of love from these adorable little balls of fur
:o)
October marked the sad passing of our beloved Charlotte;
our 4 year-old Malti-poo who was a gift to me from the Reading Guy
when we first began dating. As long as we had known each other,
we had known "Charlie," so her absence was felt that much more profoundly.
The long and tear-filled days of October made a future with another puppy
nearly impossible to imagine-- until we met Chloe and Zoe, that is.
In December, we began discussing the possibility of adding to our family
(in the canine species, of course), and the Reading Guy nearly blindsided
me when he said that this go-round he wanted TWO puppies!
Well...more often than not, what the Reading Guy wants, the Reading Guy
gets, and ultimately I couldn't be more grateful for his spot-on decision.
We welcomed them to our home on the first of January, 2011 and
our days have been all the happier since.
Stay tuned for regular updates and quirky goings-on of our loving little ladies!

Just a little Chloe and Zoe update: our little ladies are now four
and a half months old and they have really been developing their own
personalities: Chloe is pensive (as much a puppy can be), analytical,
serious (at times), requiring of much attention, and is very, very loving.
She is the epitome of a lap dog, jumping right on you whenever she gets the
chance to, in fact she pretty much jumps on anything and everything all of the time...
She is very vocal about what she wants--definitely the barker of the two.
She is smart, learns quickly, recognizes many words and people, and she really
enjoys a nice game of tug-of-war and chase-the-tail. She is the first to greet us
when we return home and that's always makes for a wonderful welcome...
But her most unique feature is that she serve double duty as the Reading Guy's
alarm clock every morning--she even has a snooze button!!! Every morning at
ten 'til seven, Chloe begins crying and will continue to do so unless the hubby
"SHHHH's" her. And about ten minutes after the "SHHHH," she will cry again--
she even has a built-in Snooze...
Zoe, on the other hand, is VERY laid back, so much so, that she rarely
even barks! She prefers to be rolling around with her toys and laying on her
back over much of anything else. She is a GOOD eater and is very disciplined
about going potty where she should (Chloe--not so much). She is calm, rarely
jumps, rarely bites, rarely runs, and she almost never fights...
When our ladies play fetch, Zoe inevitably tires much more quickly
than does Chloe (after all, she is of a stockier build than Chloe)
and will just lay herself down while her sister continues the
workout. When Zoe does something worthy of a reward, she
doesn't bark or drive herself crazy trying to get your attention.
She simply sits right in front of wherever we may be and stares
at us until we give her a treat! We can't help calling her
Zen Zoe...
And, as of now, C and Z both know how to sit, lay down and shake hands
with you on command!!! It goes without saying that we think that our
ladies are the smartest dogs that have ever lived!
Much puppy lovin' to be continued...

SERIOUSLY! This is what we, extremely lucky Reading Guy
and Reading Girl, get to see every time we walk in to our family room!

What on Earth did we ever do to deserve these little ladies?
Now don't get me wrong, they are a handful--ten times over! :o)

But they bring happiness to our days and remind us that life
is all the richer when you share it with two little white balls of fur!

Chloe and Zoe will have a big month coming up; a tiny (spay)
surgery is impending, but we plan to shower them with lots of attention
and sweetness in order to facilitate a speedy recovery!

Chloe and Zoe are doing splendidly!
They recovered fully from there ultra-modern and less invasive
laser surgery, but not before I could act a fool and break into a SOB-FEST
when we dropped off our little babies at the doctor.

And now, six months later, The Reading Guy and I couldn't be happier with
that decision, even if we are heartbroken about our latest big decision!

Moving to Spain, that is :o(
While we originally planned to take Chloe and Zoe along on our
wild and crazy adventure (and I am still contemplating sneaking them
into my carryon against The Reading Guy's many protests),

we ultimately decided that our little ladies would be better
served by staying with their loving grandparents.

I know that I would be infinitely happier while abroad if I could bring
my little angels with me, but it seems that there aren't many
(or any, really) Spanish landlords that appreciate the idea of bringing
my four-legged children to Europe as much as I do.

Not to mention the idea of making C and Z suffer through
such a long flight, connection, and train ride, etc.
We are betting the farm on the hope that they won't miss us
for the 3.5 months that we are in Spain, and that they will be so
happy to beeven more spoiled by their adoring grandparents
and extended family that they won't even notice we're gone.

Umm, I may have conferred with a pet psychologist to ease my
anxiety over the matter. She assured me that they would be
fine and that it was best to make a quick and clean exit on
the day of our departure.I suppose that this would render the typical
flood of waterworks that my separation from Chloe and Zoe
for an extended period completely counterproductive.

All I can say is that I'll try my best, and I will continue to do so
until the day that they are back in my arms. I love Chloe and Zoe
more than words can say and longer than time can tell.

are very welcome and much appreciated.

It has been almost two years now that The Reading Guy
and I split out time between Spain and Texas, which means
that I have been a real trooper as it relate to managing
spending months on end without holding my little
Sweetheart's in my arms.
In the mean time they are loving hanging out with their grandparents
and their grandparents almost don't want to hand 'em over every
time we are back in Texas. But alas they love their Mom and
Dad a little to much to sit tight for to long anywhere else.
And we are always counting the days until we are with them again
:)
