I know it's been a little too long
since we last "Decked" the halls
together, but the truth is that I
have loads of fun, budget and
renter-friendly ideas that I have
been putting to good use here in
our new home. And I can't wait
to share them all with you!
So, let's get started
with a ridiculously
simple DIY project.
I picked up this melamine tray at a
Wal-Mart here in the D.F. The color
scheme was questionable, but it's size
and price were right on point.
So, I invested $5.00 in the tray
and another $3.00 in spray paint with
the hope of giving my Sweets' office
supplies a comfortable place to rest.
And guess what? The result was
even better than I had expected!
I love happy endings
Here's how the makeover went down:
1. First, I placed the tray in a plastic bag.
2. Then I secured the bag firmly in place with painter's tape.
3. Next I sprayed the tray with two coats of a
metallic gold paint, allowing about 15
minutes for drying in between coats.
4. And lastly, I hardly gave my new fancy-pants
tray adequate time to cure before I accessorized
it to my heart's content.
So, that was kind of unfairly easy,
and almost not worthy of a post.
But I just felt that is was really
important that I be an advocate
for all of the ugly melamine
Wal-Mart trays out there.
There's hope--even for them
