I Think I Cannes

After visiting, Nice and Monaco on our little tour of
the French Cote D' Azur, we headed out to visit yet
another notorious gem of the coast, CANNES...

Aaaah, Cannes--perhaps my hopes were just too high.
Or maybe it was those darned movie stars always
making you look so shiny and so glamorous...

Could it have been your lush towering palm trees...

 And blooming promenade...

That had me thinking that my Sweets and I would be sipping
on champagne while we lounged in the beaming sun...

Whatever it was, that had us oh-so hopeful, well--
we just couldn't help but feel a little underwhelmed
when all we got from you was RAIN...

And COLD
(though we managed to keep warm)...

And of course, WIND...

Cold, windy rain--
not exactly the welcome we were expecting.
But we did manage to make the most of our time on
our visit to Cannes by taking shelter where we could...

Plus, the weather gave us the perfect excuse to
to tap the brakes on what had, up until then,
been a rather tiring tourist-y pace...

We got to know the in's and out's of one some of
Cannes' not so film-centric neighborhoods--

Even if we did have to climb a bit to get there...

We also paid the requisite visit to the famous
Palais Des Festivals, only to find that even the
red carpet gets put away on rainy days in Cannes...

So, we decided to call it a day and head to our hotel a
bit earlier than we had planned. We settled in
with a few essentials as the seemingly endless curtain
of rain continued to soak the streets of Cannes...

It's possible that the very best of Cannes is to be seen
during that special week in May when the stars align and
descend on the city by way of yachts and private jets--
aaaah, but we'll always have the rain :)

See you soon for a visit to AMAZING ANTIBES!
XO
