Well our long weekend has FINALLY
wrapped up and today is actually a very
unique day of the week for us.
You see, I have a secret identity
that no one really knows about,
and it comes to life every Monday...
I am a part time English teacher!
Okay, that might be a bit of an exaggeration,
but it is true that every Monday and Wednesday
I meet up with the three nicest students ever,
and we practice their conversational English skills
for a few hours. Needless to say, every Monday
The Reading Guy and I look forward to our adventures
in teaching! We try our hardest to think of the least boring
ways to get them to hone their English grammar, vocabulary
and accents. There may even be a lesson plan involved...
For tonight's meeting, our goal was to get
them to feel really comfortable with the idea
of ordering at an English speaking restaurant.
So, we necessarily went with a Coney Island
sample menu to practice with
They did really well and we'll soon
be moving on to more pressing topics:
like their educational and professional
interests and ambitions. But for today,
we just enjoyed trying to explain what
exactly root beer is and why there seem
to be so few flavors of ice cream to
choose from on U.S. menus...
It's just that ice cream is a pretty BIG deal
around here--a culture of its own, really!
Probably the one aspect of life in
Europe in which less isn't more
and the more options, the better
